Begrudgingly we leave the magical rooftop view and go back down into the secret alleys of Istanbul
And pop out into the sights and smells of the Spice Market
She takes us to this place owned by her friend Bilge (pronounced Bill-gay)
We do one of the coolest thing on the trip so far...a spice tasting
We each get a scorecard and pen, tasting 15 spice blends, and smelling 10 teas and essential oils. We are put into a state of sensory overload
Bilge studied in upstate New York, and misses her favorite meal at Denny's, "Moon Over My-Hammy" (which she changed to "Moon over My-Turkey," as she doesn't eat pork
Back into the street after buying way more spices than a guy that doesn't cook should have...
Truck backing up in a tight alley draws a crowd
______ Mosque (one of the other guys will fill in the name)
On walk home, Kevin Kos sees a shop his ancestors must have started. It is a deli which ties in with Kos family history.
Sadly, we say goodbye to the best guide in Istanbul. Thanks, Trici!
