Blagoevgrad

We stayed at Hotel Kristo in Blagoevgrad, or "Blago" as the locals call it.  It was our base in the Rila mountains for day trips to hikes and Melnik. Here we are in front of the hotel.

It reminded us of the hotel in The Shining.  It was huge, creepy, dark, empty, and we were basically the only guests.  I'm no interior designer, but I'm pretty sure the decor was understated Scandinavian minimalism:

We went out to explore the town and find dinner.  Since it was summer in a university town, there were few people around.

Kevin ordered a calzone as big as his head (which, itself, has a budding atmosphere and 3 orbital moons):

It was raining.  Pat forgot to pack a rain coat.

He borrowed a garbage bag from the restaurant:

Andrew ponders his decision: speed or stamina?

  1. I see potential in Pat's get-up. It looks a 70s halter top boob-tube (sticking with the theme) with an additional hood attachment... all done up in plastic. Nice rack, by the way; I wish it was see through -
