Plovdiv

(Going back one day)
We decided that trying to cross the entire country from the Black Sea to Sofia in one day was too much, so we broke it up by staying in Plovdiv, which is about 2/3 of the way there.

At the hotel:

It turned out to be much better than we expected.  A nice 6,000 year old town with a pedestrian mall and a good amount of Roman ruins smattered about.

Stealing the show behind the stunning amphitheater were two seemingly random events. The first was a street performance artist "Plovdiv Mary." She catapulted and threw herself around for five minutes to Jimmi Hendrix's Catfish Blues," hitting her head on cobblestones all for the sake of her art. Then she even looked at us from under her arm and leg at the at the same time. All for her art.

Restaurant where Shepard Boy was born. This trip keeps getting more hilarious and strange at the same time.
